The UNDP NDC Support Programme will build on the foundation and extensive results achieved under the LECB Programme (2011-2017) and work to enhance technical and institutional capacities of public, private sector and social actors to scale up mitigation actions that support NDC implementation in 18 countries. In addition, the Programme will work in select countries to integrate gender equality in NDC planning and implementation processes within the broader sustainable development context. These dual aims will be achieved through strengthened climate governance, removal of barriers to LEDS and NAMA implementation, and an improved investment environment that address barriers to public and private finance. The gender-responsive approach will be integrated into NDC implementation plans in select countries to have gender mainstreamed into institutional, policy and planning frameworks for national climate action and mitigation actions.
As part of the a global, coordinated and cross-cutting approach the UNDP NDC Support Programme will collect, coordinate and disseminate best practices, lessons learned, and early wins across platforms and in coordination with other IKI Cluster partners and support the implementation of strong systems of peer-to-peer exchange.
