Mitigation Action Implementation Network (MAIN)

Implementing partner
Center for Clean Air Policy (CCAP)
Duration
07/2015 - 12/2017 (preceding project since 2011)
Project summary

Through dialogue, research, analysis, and identification of best practices, CCAP’s Mitigation Action Implementation Network (MAIN) supports emerging economy and developing country efforts to convert their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) into effective policies, measures, and finance-ready investment strategies. The initiative supports the development of ambitious Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) that can lead to sectoral transformation, align with national development goals, and catalyze private sector investment.

CCAP harvests best practices and lessons learned through this engagement and in-depth policy research and analysis to inform global policy development in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Green Climate Fund (GCF). Engaging with senior policymakers, climate negotiators, GCF board members and public and private sector leaders in climate finance, CCAP works to develop and build consensus around global policy approaches that promote transformational climate actions and the effective use of support.

MAIN contributes to the work of the IKI NDC Support Cluster by providing both independent and collaborative research and analyses on key topics related to NDC conversion, financing, and implementation, as well as responding to requests for support through the NDC Support Cluster Help Desk.
