Project summary

The second phase of the Mexican-German Climate Change Alliance builds on the successful first phase of the project and supports Mexico in meeting its ambitious climate change targets, which also helps it remain closely involved with the international climate negotiation processes.

It offers advice on process and content relating to the development and implementation of selected measures set out in Mexico’s Climate Change Law, climate action programme and climate change programme (PECC). The project advises on ways of mitigating greenhouse gas emissions and adapting to the effects of climate change, and actively involves Mexico’s states and its private sector in developing, implementing and monitoring climate activities. Technical and policy forums are jointly organised to strengthen the bilateral climate dialogue and enable key stakeholders in federal, state and local government to network and share experience with representatives of umbrella associations, nongovernmental organisations (NGOs) and the private business.
